After spending a few wonderful days in the Highlands, we began our return journey toward Glasgow – but instead of taking the usual route, we turned off to visit Pitlochry, a place we’d always heard about but never seen. The drive itself was a highlight: narrow, winding roads surrounded by lush greenery and open skies that made every turn feel like a postcard.
Our first stop was the stunning Queen’s View, one of the most photographed spots in Scotland. The road leading up to it was narrow but incredibly scenic, weaving through forests and hills before opening up to a panoramic view of Loch Tummel. It’s easy to see why Queen Victoria fell in love with this place.
Exploring Pitlochry Town Centre
After soaking in the view, we drove into Pitlochry and parked near the town centre. The town is small, charming, and full of character – the kind of place where time seems to slow down. We strolled along the main street, browsing quaint shops and admiring the traditional stone buildings.
Soon we found a cosy local café and settled in for some much-needed warmth. We enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate, and sandwiches, while watching the world go by outside the window – a perfect pause in our journey.
Before leaving Pitlochry, we stopped by a Chinese restaurant in town to pick up some noodles for dinner later on our drive back home – a simple but satisfying way to end a lovely day.
